• Traffic Control really works!

We have been conducting tests of our 'traffic control' platform in the upcoming release of KeyRPM 2.0. We took a domain that had been parked at Sedo for over 6 months and was getting an average score of $28RPM however, we added the domain name into traffic control and over the past few weeks the same domain has been averaging over $112RPM in Parked.com. What makes this even better is that in the final release this feature is fully automated! So any domain that drops in RPM will see more traffic being sent to a compatible parking platform that has a higher RPM score.

We have been amazed with the results to date and are looking forward to the upcoming release of KeyRPM 2.0 which is not that far away now. We would encourage anyone who is looking for a boost in revenue to sign up today!

    Regards,

    David Harry

P.S. More test results to come!

  • A new approach to domain keyword optimization: crowdsourcing and decentralization

    Posted by Sisyphus

I like making suggestions to parking companies how they should improve monetization, so here’s another try…here is how I think keyword optimization can be improved.

Today most parking companies rely on auto-optimization for optimizing their partners’ domains, over the years they have improved their automated systems to do this. To a smaller degree, parking companies do sometimes play around with manual optimization, i.e having their employees manually optimize domains. For example Skenzo does a lot of manual optization, obviously having the advantage that it can bank on a cheap Indian workforce.

In my experience auto optimization is often not the best option. For a lot of domains manual optimization brings a lot of upside.

I think that better keyword optimization could be brought by introducing crowdsourcing and decentralization into the opimization process.

Imagine that parking companies would create a “marketplace” where freelance optimizers could try and optimize their partner’s domains. The new settings would then be A/B tested against auto-optimization or other freelance optimizer’s optimization. If the freelancer’s optimization would be better, he/she would be paid a fee for his work. As part of the “marketplace”, the parking companies could score the various freelancers on their optimization skills and only let the most successful optimize the biggest domains etc. This process would need a lot of tweaking but I think it could work for the benefit of both parking companies and domainers.

Introduce decentralization into the optimization process is the phrase of the day!

We here at KeyRPM are excited to be launching KeyRPM 2.0 with Traffic Control and KeyRank. This means you will have 'control' over where your traffic goes and what keywords your domains should be using! We included the 'post above' to highlight some major questions that are currently being asked by domainers when it comes to keyword optimization. We are a firm believer that you should be 'in control' of your domain portfolios and take advantage of the tools we provide at KeyRPM.

We have delayed the release of KeyRPM 2.0 as we are pointing on the final touches and will keep you posted on the upcoming release date. In the mean time you can sign up for the 'free basic account' and test drive the keyword control tools now!

  • It's all about the Traffic mate!

I have been reading a book during the holidays titled, What Would Google Do?, and it has become more clearer to me while reading how much control we have when it comes to domain traffic (type-in traffic) and with that control comes responsibility.

I have witnessed over the years many domainers buy or register 'type-in traffic' domains and park them with one or two parking platforms (e.g. Sedo, NameDrive or DomainSponsor) and have not neither the resources or the time to test the traffic across multiple parking accounts and keywords.

Even with our own large domain portfolios it became a costly and timely process to re-direct domain traffic around easily and effectively. So we have been working hard behind the scenes to build a 'traffic splitting' engine to compliment the other services we currently provide (we call it KeyRPM 2.0) and this will be major upgrade will be available soon in the coming weeks ahead and we believe this is the final stage which completes our service offering of domain management, keyword optimization and soon 'traffic splitting'.

The Traffic Engine upgrade will be a powerful feature as you will be able to see how a domain performs not only with our 'multiple sourced keywords' but also across 'multiple parking platforms', so you get the complete picture. You become better informed and in turn able to make the right choices!

I know KeyRPM 1.0 has saved us money, but more importantly it has saved us time and energy! So sign up for a free basic account today and you too can also experience it for yourself!

  • So many domains so little time!

Over the years we have been trying to manage our domain portfolios via MS Excel spreadsheets, basic software or whatever else we could get our hands on and yet it was never good enough and our domain portfolio kept growing and we were unable to give every domain the attention they needed. We had over 8 different parking accounts and trying to manage that was becoming very difficult indeed. We found ourselves spending way too much time on managing our domain portfolio instead of growing it!

During this time we made the decision to build our own platform (in-house) and it was to be, from the very beginning, an online domain management tool that would address the on-going issues we were facing. In our mind we knew exactly what the outcomes would be and then some. Over the course of 18 months we built what is known today as KeyRPM 1.0, which we continue to develop through new add-ons and smarts to meet the ever-changing space called the domain industry.

We are extremely proud with the final outcome and now we get a ‘birds-eye’ view of all our portfolios and parking accounts in one easy to use dashboard and can make decisions more quickly and more effectively than ever before. We are able to drill down to the domain level and see trends and register similar domains based on the ‘predictive model’ shown in KeyRPM 1.0 and so are more educated in what verticals would bring a faster return on investment (ROI).

One of the biggest draw-cards was the ability to not only manage our domain portfolios but to be able to optimise each domain name (not just the top 20 traffic domains) and through what we call ‘Learn & Earn’ and some smart algorithms we were able to see massive changes in RPM across our portfolios. This feature is what we continue to focus our resources on and each month we roll out a new function that enhances our smart keyword optimization technology.

What’s even better is that we didn’t have to change anything to our name servers or parking companies. We were able to focus on better things like buying more domain portfolios and getting a quicker turn around on our multiples due to the automated keyword optimization.

So you too can experience this level of domain management and keyword optimization for your own portfolio. So register for your FREE Basic Account today and start seeing your revenue climb!

  • Keywords and the Economy

Over the last 12 months we all have been enduring the GFC (Global Financial Crisis) and things are still tough with many domainers pointing to a continued drop in earnings across most domain portfolios. One would hope the GFC will come to an end soon!

The GFC has had a major impact on online advertising which in turn has a direct impact on your domain portfolio's earnings. Most industry experts are predicting a return to strong growth rates in the coming years ahead!

One of the major reasons we developed KeyRPM 1.0 was to address the challenge of domain management and more importantly increasing revenue through keyword optimization. This major focus has allowed us to 'weather the storms'. We have seen across our own portfolio and many others not a decrease in RPM but a steady increase over time! You can see an example below which clearly demonstrates the difference a high paying keyword can make when it comes to CPC rates.

The domain relates to learner drivers:

    • driving instruction - 81.21 RPM
    • learn to drive - 35.89 RPM
    • driving license - 28.01 RPM
    • vic roads - 24.59 RPM

As you can see the RPM scores vary so the keyword loaded the most (43.24%) is keyword number 1 for obvious reasons. Just stop and imagine if you could give your domain portfolio access to this platform? What would the end result be? To put it simply, we have had this impression over many years now that our domains are being fully optimized by the parking companies (some do offer limited domain optimization) however experience has shown us that this is not always the case.

In the pursuit of higher revenue earnings we have given free access to our KeyRPM 1.0 Standard Account to anyone, no matter how small or large your domain portfolio is, you too can gain access to our keyword optimization and domain management platform! The simple fact is there will always be domains in your portfolio that could perform much better and identifying these domains is complicated BUT not anymore! Sign up for your free account today!

  • The Long Tail Effect!

With any large collection of information, there is a phenomenon that crops up called the 'Long-Tail effect’. In essence the Long-Tail effect is an attribute of the information age or rather 'information overload' and a large domain portfolio is no exception.

In our experience the domainer is focused on his/her top tier domains. These 'star performers' can sometimes be the faithful ones, the 'bread-winners' unfortunately; some are also seasonal or erratic in nature and performance.

And here lies the secret to increased stability in your portfolio performance. Your top tier domains are often out performed and out earned by the lower base in your portfolio pyramid but, if only you could shed some love and attention on them

'How do I do that?’ I hear you ask. The task is daunting and rarely attempted as each domain needs to be assessed on its own merits and needs to be assigned a relevant (and hopefully high paying) keyword.

In a portfolio of 100's is it possible to do this or in a portfolio of 1000's of domains?

Truly, this is one of the main reasons why KeyRPM 1.0 was developed in the first place and ultimately the main selling point if there was only one to remember.

With KeyRPM1.0 working on your domain portfolio, not only do your top domains get to experience new heights but also your bottom tier domains (which may not even HAVE keywords!) will discover ‘new growth’.

  • The days of set & forget are long gone!

Hello, my name is David Harry the Founder/CEO of Xtra Parking (KeyRPM) and I have been in this industry for over 5 years now.

I have seen many domainers come and go and also some domain parking companies in that time. I remember the days when I could register a domain and set one keyword and then walk away without a care. I knew (well I thought I knew) which keywords would work well and for which domain and category.

The keyword 'internet games' would work very well for all of my domains that were associated with online games and that was just one example in those days! I remember the month and year when Google flipped a 'switch' and all of that changed and the domain landscape has never been the same. So domainers are faced, as I was, with a simple question, "are your current keywords for your domain names the best, most relevant and high paying?"

This is a question I continue to ask of my parking providers and domain portfolio account managers.

The simple truth is, as I began to quickly realize, you just DON'T KNOW! You may think you know but in most cases its trial and error. You take a keyword and give it a few days and then try another one or you don't set a keyword at all and leave it to the account manager at the parking company to figure it out.

One of the first things I did to address this issue was hire a full-time programmer and the job description was simply this, develop a domain management platform for my ever growing domain portfolio. In the implementation process we identified a means to test keywords across multiple parking platforms.

This resulted in what we now call KeyRPM. We began to see (over a short time) some dramatic changes in RPM and our portfolio increased its return on investment (ROI). We were able to buy domains for various multiples and see a return on investment quicker than previously experienced.

We soon knew that we were onto something big. So after meeting with other investors we began the job of building this platform for the masses and in the coming days we are soon to announce the release of KeyRPM Dashboard 1.0 Beta. This has been a combined effort and has taken over a year to develop and tested across multiple domain portfolios.

The goal posts have moved during that time but we are confident in providing a keyword optimization platform built by domainers for domainers. In a time when many are experiencing lower PPC rates than ever before and an ever changing industry we more than confident in delivering a tried and tested platform.
